To continue, superintendent for Brant Haldimand Norfolk CDSB reported that the percent of grade twelve’s that return is twenty-five to thirty-five, which is not considered a really big difference. However, it does show that after grade twelve students return to take an extra year of before going into post-secondary schools. Some return because they did not achieve the total of thirty credits and the extra year gives them time to get all their credits needed before they graduate. This means that the delay of grade thirteen has shown a lower number of students that are ready for university or college. He states that these high school students entering post-secondary school are too young. Harry explains that the teenage brain is still developing. Meaning they enter university with “a years less ability” to analyze and plan ahead. So, what he is trying to explain is students are entering without knowing that what they want to do or courses to take. Even though university and college is very scary because you have to figure out courses or what school you are going to. As a part of that you have to plan out so if you are not ready for that, OAC will give you the chance to plan out
