Youth violence or any violence in general has affected me, mentally and emotionally by creating a barrier which I created. This is by being aware of my surroundings or just being afraid to go to the nearest store around the block. In all, it has just made me worried and scared that this is the world we live in. I hoped that it wouldn't have to be this way and that I wouldn't have to witness violence in my life although violence is almost everywhere. Despite that, it did teach me a lesson and it taught me that violence is never the answer to anyone's problems. I know this because growing up, my schools weren't the greatest, for example, the middle school I'm attending currently had at least 10 fights in the past three years. It may not seem a lot, but violence shouldn't be the place where students go to learn and get an education. School should be a place where students look forward to go to and to not be afraid of who is going to fight who on the next day. What I think I can do in order to play a part in awareness to youth violence, is by spreading the word that affecting each other's lives may be more important than what people might actually think. Although it is only one person out of the 7 billion people in the world, it affects the many families to how they see people differently and changes their trust towards another. This is very important to understand because say for example I forgot to add sugar to my cookies, although it is only one thing, it can make a huge difference, the cookies wouldn't be sweet right? In the end, everything should matter and that is what I want to tell people.
