The cowboys would take turns with the night shift.One cowboy takes a rest while the others have to make to red river valley.Adults need 9 hours of sleep each day. Cowboys didn’t even get a wink to sleep.According to Document D Cook stated “At times we went for days without getting a scarcely wink of sleep because of the bad weather.” The cowboys go days without a moment of rest.Also some cowboys are left behind because they are too tired and can’t continue more.In Document A paragraph 2 Baxler Black says “ behind his eye balls and pumpkin thought his veins,Is a ghost of every cowboys that ever held reins.”He was really stressed out and just wanted to stop.He was very tired and wanted no more but to leave.This is why cowboys need a little bit of sleep to find there energy and continue.
On the other hand, cowboys did get money by doing the long drive.According to Document C a typical monthly pay for texas cowboy on the long drive was 30$.But, a teacher gets paid more and it’s less of a sacrifice to become a teacher.That why it better to become a teacher instead of a cowboy a teacher gets paid $40-50
