The culling of sharks is not the only way to ensure that the ocean is safe. Sharks have populated the earth for over four hundred million years and now, people want to remove them from our oceans [Williamson, 2015]. The introduction of shark culls will allow people to freely kill sharks in an unorthodox manner, threatening the lives of many shark species. Despite what the media depicts of them, most people do not know that sharks are vital when it comes to maintaining the ocean ecosystem and maintaining the ocean that human kind continuously abuse. Sharks are labelled as menacing, bloodthirsty creatures. But with these horrific words being thrown around, people are still entering the ocean.

We take the beaches and ocean for granted, using it as a dump site when we are too lazy to do the right thing by the environment. People do not think before they do, resulting in many horrendous outcomes on the space around them. A large area of water between California and Hawaii was cleaned of all rubbish, showing shocking weight results of six times more plastic than plankton [Santa Barbara News, 2007]. Considering that plastic does not decompose, it would be left in the water, posing a threat on the innocent and unknowing sea creature around it. Sharks are here to support the ecosystem which is being ruined by the preposterous acts of lazy people, who have decided to use the ocean as their own personal garbage
