Emily Dickinson state in the poem “the Apple on the Tree—provided it did hopeless—hang—that—"Heaven" is—to me” (L.3-4) in the poem Emily compares heaven to an apple hanging on a tree and since nobody can either reach heaven or the apple she called it hopelessly. Emily Dickinson goes on to explain people who believe in the idea of heaven will also be a trick by the notion of paradise. The poem also mentions that the beautiful purple skyline in the evening makes a person become gullible to the idea that there is a heaven “Her teasing Purples—Afternoons—the credulous—decoy”
