Positive Climate Change

Climate Change: A Not So Positive Change Earth. Our planet, our shelter, our home. With its green pastures and its shimmering blue skies and oceans. Now glimpse one hundred years into the future. Imagine it partly gone and destroyed, along with its diverse sceneries and animals. Contaminated with hazardous chemicals and the litter we didn’t give much thought to when we disposed of it incorrectly. Now a dangerously harmful and inhabitable place where our children and grandchildren will have to live just because we were careless for half a second and could not find a trash can. This the only planet we have. If we destroy this one, then where will we go ? It is important to take into consideration these significant facts to realize we have to …show more content…
The causation of climate change and the change in weather patterns is a very difficult problem to pinpoint because there are many different factors that contribute to it, but scientists have commonly agreed the major cause comes directly from pollution. Whether it be smog from cars or physical pollution, such as plastic bottles littering our oceans, it is important to know that some of these small contributions can have a very harmful impact if they are continuously repeated. While these by-products may be unsafe, they all do share a common trait. They all originate from the same material--- crude oil. This oil that is extracted deep from the bottom of the ocean is so commonly used that it has become a part of our everyday life. Crude oil while being so damaging is still used for common things like gas, containers and plastic bottles. An average plastic bottle takes up to four hundred and fifty years just to decompose while still leaving its harsh chemicals in the soil.
While this may be the most commonly known form of pollution, there are also other ways the world may be polluting without even knowing about it. The very consumption of water and energy in our homes can be a particular contributing factor. Products such as coal and nuclear fission are used in the process of creating energy that feeds the very electric grid that powers our cities and homes which create contamination

By starting to make different adjustments to our daily lives and putting up stricter regulations by our governments, we can slowly reverse these scenarios and maybe stop them from happening altogether. Just by making some changes such as recycling better or conserving water and energy we can reduce pollution by a significant amount. If we all put in our little grain of sand, we could create change faster than any previous generation. Additionally, by switching over to hybrid or electric cars we can also reduce the amount of smog and carbon from the air and make healthier living conditions for us and our neighborhoods. Comparatively, by planting trees approved in our area, we can reduce the amount of pollution along with the active choice of picking out food that is in season and preventing the supermarkets from importing food that may not be in season and may be forced to be brought over from another country. All this can be achieved through guidelines that our governments can create to live better and healthier lives. That is why there will be an arranged conference at the end of 2015 in Paris to reach an agreement on this ongoing debate on climate change. These small changes in our lifestyles can make a notable change that our children will thank us for

“Isn’t it ironic how the earth would thrive without us, [humans], but we would not survive without the earth?” Yet, we still manage to choose non-sustainable products and lifestyles regardless of its repercussions in our habitat because it is more convenient way to live. It is undebatable that nature is a beautiful thing, and when it is destroyed, unlike various things in the modern world that can be easily replaced, we can not replace nature. It also undeniable that we have caused great damage to our environment that resulted into endangering animals, higher sea levels that swallows shorelines, and stronger calamities that destroys homes. We are destroying the very cause of our survival.…

“If the world continues to burn fossil fuels at the current rate, the Earth’s temperature will rise two degrees Celsius by 2036, crossing a threshold that will harm human civilization,” according to Michael Mann, a leading expert in climatology and geophysics. If this is true, then this means that we have only twenty years to try and reverse the effects of global warming. The only way to productively save the planet from global warming is to immediately stop burning fossil fuels and invest in clean renewable energy. “People get confused about this issue, but the facts are crystal clear – the ice is melting, the Earth is warming, the sea level is rising – those are facts. ”(Sellers)…

There are monumental obstacles currently standing in the way of sustainability, including decreased access to traditional resources and rapid global population growth. As these issues become more pertinent, it is necessary for society to find ways to lessen these obstacles and find alternatives so that sustainability can no longer be an ideal, but a reality.…
