Have you ever heard about alkaline water? Do you really know what it is? When it comes to alkaline water, you should know this water is slightly basic. It has basic minerals, including magnesium, calcium and bicarbonate. All these compounds will bind to hydrogen ions in solution, making the water more basic. Moreover, this type of water refers to its pH level, which is a number that measures how alkaline a substance is on a scale of 0-14. For example, if something will have a pH level of 1, it will be very acidic. On the other hand, if it has a pH of 13, than it will be very alkaline. However, there are also some issues that health experts have with it, especially due to the health claims that are made about it. There are plenty of marketing claims that customers should not believe into, because these days, there is not enough scientific guide to support the use of it as a treatment for any health conditions. However, drinking it is generally considered safe, because it contains natural minerals. If you have any doubts regarding it, you should know that naturally alkaline occurs when water passes over rocks and picks up minerals, that can increase its alkaline level. Nowadays, there are also a lot of companies which are trying to sell various products, such as ionizers which are able to make water alkaline through a chemical process called electrolysis. Nowadays, most people are choosing to drink this type of water because it is rich in minerals such as calcium and magnesium and it is energizing and super-hydrating as a result of electrolysis filtering. We all know that it acts as an antioxidant, but did you know that it has the ability to give up electrons, so it can really neutralize and block free-radical damage to the body?
