Old World vs. New World “A “new world” exists, having blasted into existence from the technological explosion of the last 20 years. We are going to call this new world cyber-space. Cyber-space is very different from the traditional “old world” we are born into and live and die in every day. The differences between these two worlds is causing some very interesting and very serious challenges.” [1]. The Old World is a completely different world than this New World. This is a New World that needs to be re-evaluated, and somehow we need to get a grasp on it entirely. Within the Old World, you were born into it no matter what. To enter this New World, you have to have the needed physical device such as a cell phone, computer, etc. This New World is rapidly changing, and many would agree that it has become very difficult to live without stepping foot into the New World, but it is possible.
Advantages and Disadvantages One of the advantages of the old world was the physical laws that exist which provide order, constraints, and control [2]. This is a key advantage because we have an overall grasp on the Old World. We have our government in place, agencies, and law enforcement which refrain our country from being the wild-wild-west. Unfortunately, in the New World, this is not the case. Within the New World, there are few physical laws to provide “natural/consistent/reliable” constraints or order [2]. What this means is that, people have the freedom to carry out a plethora of harmful actions. Normally in the Old World, if you wanted to destroy someone’s reputation, you would generally have to do so with the consequence of human-to-human interaction. The person would have to go out into the public and actually talk badly about that other person or entity. If you do that, you risk the chance of
