DeGrazia says, “even gun enthusiasts do not claim that young children, the severely mentally ill, or persons convicted of violent felonies have the right to bear arms. Gun rights are limited, at a first approximation, to competent, law-abiding adults”(pg 5). Where is the line draw from selling a gun to someone that is sane now, but they could become unstable in a few years or months? My friend could have bought a gun a few months before she become unsafe and committed suicide. My friend did not have a mental disorder, so even a background check should not save her.
