Ares is the son of Zeus and Hera and the god of war and military. He is usually depicted as being violent and aggressive in times of distress and war. On the Roman side, Mars was symbolized as a more calm and understanding person and was said to be the father of the Romans. His bird is the vulture, which represent both sides of him- aggressive when hungry and calm when fulfilled. When Ares is alluded to in a text, the character is can usually be categorized as being aggressive, violent, and protective. On the flip side, these same people can also be calm and understanding in some moments. They can be seen as embodying two different personalities in different situations. Hades always wanted ultimate power, but when he was confined to the underworld he decided to shut himself out and never came up to Olympus. He is usually depicted as terribly moody, but not evil. He even stole Persephone from Earth to be the Queen to his kingdom. He is perceived as one who has no soul, but cares about his kingdom.
