Are standardized tests accurately measuring knowledge? Some people support standardized testing and some people are against them. A test is completely reliable if you would get exactly the same results the second time you take it. A 2001 study found that 50-80% year-over-year improvements were temporary. We need something that will change for a long amount of time. Furthermore, standardized test are an unreliable measure of student performance. On top of that, standardized tests only measure a small portion of what makes education meaningful. Standardized tests can not measure creativity, honesty, critical thinking, and more. Standardized tests also don’t reflect current knowledge about how students learn. Standardized tests especially don’t measure important life skills that are important for being successful.
