The world is full of different nations and cultures. Some cultures are similar and some are completely different. Two of the cultures I would like to talk about a little bit more is the Arab culture and the Japanese culture. Both cultures are very proud of their heritage and have a long history to look back at. However, there are some significant differences as well. When people hear the word “Arab”, the first thing that usually pops up in their head is desert and Muslims. The Arab countries cover a vast territory, almost all of it is desert and wilderness. It’s also well known that the Arabs believes and values are influenced by the Islam. Even though the headscarf is not a requirement by the Islam, most …show more content…
Arabs consider it too personal when a male asks about the females in the family. This also something do to do with their beliefs and what the guidelines of the Koran are. It’s better to talk about the “family” in general then just about the females. The Islam plays a major role in the Arab culture. This also means that alcohol and pork are forbidden and Arabs may not eat or drink these things. In the Japanese culture the social order takes an important place. There are many ways how Japanese people show their social hierarchy in public, such as in language, seating arrangements at social gatherings and in bowing to one another. In more conservative companies women will be advised on hair color and length, men will be advised on hair length including sideburns, and facial hair. It is also expected of all employees to wear their uniforms at all times, even during their commute to work and home. When comparing those two culture to the American culture, there is no doubt in my mind which culture is closer to the American culture. Even though the Japanese culture still has its own tradition, it seems like this culture is a lot more comparable to the Western culture than the Arab culture. American females don’t wear a headscarf and it’s more common to see a male or a female wearing a uniform. Americans and Japanese don’t have any restrictions when it comes to eating or drinking certain things. It is ok or for them to eat pork and to drink alcohol if they wanted to. In both cultures, the American one and the Japanese one, it’s common to see females being independent, educated and to work in companies. The women eventually get married, become pregnant, stay at home with the kids for a while and then go back to their previous work place. In the Arab culture the gender role
