Pollution
Throughout time as people have advanced in civilization we have as created a growing rate of pollution. Pollution is the presence of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effect on the environment. The rate of growing pollution has increased by 8% in the past five years. Ever since the 19th century pollution has been increasing out of control.
There are many causes of pollutions and they vary in different parts of the world and time periods. According to document 7, in Mexico City during the 1992 major causes of pollution were carbon dioxide from cars, congested highways, and a large number of industrial smokestack releasing dangerous gases into the air. In China major cause of pollution, as mention in document 8, was coal burning. Yet, in document 6 it mentioned that in Venezuela, leaky pipes releasing oil into Lake Maracaibo was a major source of pollution. …show more content…

In document 2, the result of pollution in Athens was a great accumulation of filth contaminating the streets, leading to disease. There were also great plagues, and also many things that offended the nose or eyes. Still, in document 4a, the effects of pollution in the Thames River, in London, consisted of London’s drinking water being contaminated and dead fish floating in the river, further contaminating the water.
