Two of the three would soon go on to do something that no other human had ever done, they would walk on the moon. These American’s manning Apollo 11 impacted people everywhere by, teaching more about science, inspiring future space exploration, boosting American pride, and proving to humans that anything is possible. The Apollo 11 mission is credited for not only landing a man on the moon, but also for collecting the first samples from another planetary body (SNASM). Through the research, many theories were proven to either be true or false. Prior to the moon landing, scientists had many questions concerning the moon’s surface and even the possibility of life on the moon. Before the moon landing , the idea of life on the moon was widely accepted. Apollo 11, however proved that idea wrong. Apollo 11 discovered that the moon is lifeless; containing no living organisms, fossils, or native organic compounds (SNASM). Extensive research and testing revealed no proof for life, past or present, to be found in the lunar samples. Because of the idea of aliens inhabiting the lunar land, a plaque was attached to the leg of the lunar landing vehicle that read “ HERE MEN FROM THE PLANET EARTH FIRST STEP FOOT UPON THE MOON JULY 1969 A.D. WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND” (SNASM). This plaque was signed by former president Richard Nixon along with all three astronauts that took part in the lunar landing mission. Because of that day, America would forever be recognized and respected to an unremarkably high extent, astronomical knowledge would be stretched to greater lengths than ever envisioned , American pride would be boosted beyond belief, and humans across the world would be inspired to an unimaginable degree. Because of Apollo 11’s triumph, lives were changed and humanly impossible things were made humanly possible. America not only won the space race, but won over the emotional hearts of many, that had been lost. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins were the very first to achieve something that only nine other men have ever done. These prestigious men accomplished something so great in their faithful Apollo 11 spacecraft. This is no sci-fi movie, this is history. Through thick and thin, and death and life the world would be changed by “One small step for America, and one giant leap for mankind.” (Neil
