In the beginning of the experiment, there were 18 participants. The participants were college students at the College of Wooster. The 18 participants were also enrolled in a 300 level Psychology course, Learning and Behaviour, where this experiment took place. One participant’s results were thrown out because she joined the experimenter in the third and final trial. At the end of all three trails, only 17 participant’s results were collected. The materials used were pencil, or pen, three data sheets per person. The experimenter also had a marker.
To study the effects of habituation in humans, 17 participants performed a memory test 20 times in three different phases. They were told to listen to nine numbers, after the ninth number participants
