Chapter 2
This is an important chapter with a lot of vital information about the nervous system, the neurons, the brain, the endocrine system, and genetics and behavior.
The nervous system helps the body carry vital information from and to the brain. The brain can adapt to certain environments and can change depending on the environment that you are in and your way of thinking. It can spread information with the help of neurons, who pass information from one neuron to the next. There are two different pathways in the nervous system the afferent and efferent nerves. The afferent nerves pass information from the brain and spinal cord, while the efferent nerves have to do with the muscles in our body. It also contains two divisions called the central or peripheral nervous system. The central nervous system contains only the brain and the spinal cord while the peripheral nervous system connects both the brain and the spinal cord to other parts of the body. The peripheral also carries out information and brings in information from the brain and spinal cord. The peripheral is divided into two parts the somatic and autonomic nervous system. There are different sections of our brain. The hindbrain, which is located at the bottom of the brain, contains the medulla, and can control both our heart rate and breathing. Like the hindbrain, the brain stem also helps us control the heartbeat and our breathing. The midbrain is located in between the forebrain and the hindbrain and its function is to carry information from our brain to our ears and eyes.
