Shifting agriculture or slush and burn agriculture is one of the earliest ways of farming. It was used in most parts of the world and it stated in Africa, Europe and Asia however today it’s been used in South America and tropical areas. It used no technology or tools to clear the land. So basically group of people get some land and burn slash left on it. In the process of burning the nitrogen in the plant that are burning returns to the soil. Then they would start to farm. They would farm there as long as the soil is rich after soil lost most of its nitrogen and other supplants they would leave that places. The Shifting agriculture was always in the forest. After leaving that area they would move to another area and do the same thing. It would take 10 years for the soil to get back in first shape then the family or the group return to that land and do the same thing they would rotate between few lands. Sedentary agriculture is farming in one place and its opposite of shifting agriculture. Sedentary agriculture needed more labor so it encourage families to have more kids. It was the first time that we had surplus created for trade food for money. Sedentary agriculture is more sustainable. Because it in one place. We don’t need to move around and we don’t need to farm in small lands and it doesn’t need to be forest in order to
