Antonio Canova (1757- 1822) was an Italian sculptor. Considered to be his most famous piece is Psyche Revived by Cupid’s Kiss, which is marble sculpture, illustrating the god (Eros) cupid laying beside an unconscious girl named Psyche. The sculpture has a height of 1.55m, length of 1.68 meters and diameter of 1.01 meters. As widely known, the Greeks are famous for their mythical gods, which is clear inspiration for Canova’s piece. The marble and the layout of the sculupture also remind us of the iconic ancient Greek statues and sculptures because of the texture and form. (Chipault, 2015).
