In both Antigone and Things Fall Apart the protagonist is somewhat the same, they both go through a trial of challenges and lead to death. Okonkwo indirectly sacrificed himself for the village by going against the missionaries. He commits suicide because he would rather fight for his own beliefs rather than be converted by the missionaries. Antigone also sacrifices herself in order to honor her family's honor even though she knows that she will be punished because she was disobedient to King Creon's law and burying her brother’s body. She would rather kill herself and bury her brother in order to honor her families than follow Creon's supremacy. I think Achebe used Ezinma Okonkwo’s daughter, to show readers the softer and gentler side of Okonkwo.
