An estimated 350 million people of all ages around the world suffer from depression.Depression is very different from when you just get sad sometimes or have a reaction to a challenge,depression changes how you feel every second of the day, it's not short lived. It is a very common mental disorder, characterized by sadness, loss of interest or pleasure, feelings of guilt or low self-worth, disturbed sleep or appetite, feelings of tiredness, and poor concentration. Although we know many effective treatments for depression fewer than half and in some countries fewer than ten percent affected by depression receive these treatments. Antidepressants work most of the time but, they are not the first choice of treatment for mild depression because some antidepressants can worsen the depression and also cause other side effects that could be worse than the actual symptom itself. That is why many doctors prescribe holistic treatments like Behavioral Activation (BA) this when you target inertia. When depression makes you less motivated, the BA approach is supposed to work from the "outside-in", scheduling activities and using graded task assignments to allow the client to slowly begin to increase their chance of having activity positively reinforced. Another commonly used holistic treatment is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) this therapy is a talking therapy where you manage your problems by changing the way you process, think, and behave. Other ways to help treat depression is Dance/Movement Therapy for Major Depression, this is just movement of the human body, it's been proven that any type of exercise and movement of the body helps
