The story we will be reading will show us how important it is to follow signs and how we need to think things through before doing them. This story is about the sign marker’s assistant, Norman and his adventure of making signs that he thinks are funny.

2. What makes Norman’s signs so funny?
PR: In most cases the signs tell the towns people to do the opposite of what they are supposed to do.
3. What does Norman’s sign say on page 120? How do we know the children have followed what the sign has said?
PR: Norman’s sign said there is “No School”. We know the children have followed the sign because there is a picture of them leaving the front of the school building. We can also tell by children yelling “Hooray!” before leaving to go home.
4. On pg. 122 the sign Norman has made said “Open for swimming”, what does the sign say it is okay to do? How do we know that it is okay?
PR: The sign Norman made said “Open for swimming”. We know it is okay to do it because there is a picture of children swimming in the fountain.
5. Would you believe the sign that tell the townspeople to give Norman presents? Why or why not?
PR: No, because it is not Norman’s birthday or Christmas time.
6. Why do you think it is important for there to be signs telling people what to do or what something is?

Why do you think it is important to think before doing something a sign tells you to do?
PR: You need to think before doing something the sign said to because the sign can be wrong. Like the signs were wrong when Norman was playing tricks on the towns people.
An example of needing to think before doing something is when you are using the GPS and it tells you to make a right but there is no road there to turn on to.
