The data was also collected using two focused group interviews, one group with nurses in hospital, the other group with nurses and undergraduate nurses in nursing homes. The interview lasted ninety minutes. Also, the researchers state that the use a revised guide during the interview however, the measurement tools are not clearly defined in the study because the study is qualitative. Kaplan (as cited in Gove et al., 2015, p. 282). Measurement is the method of giving numbers or values to peoples’ wellbeing status. The researchers elaborate how they conducted focused group interviews without clarifying the type of questions that they used and how they formulated those questions. However, statistical test was not used in the study due to the fact this is a qualitative research study. The researchers did not interview the doctors or review the patient chart for accuracy. It discusses the documentation and communication of nutritional status of the elderly patients. Within this discussion, the authors illustrate all the important aspects of the topic before making a conclusion. The authors also conclude that there is insufficient documentation and communication of the nutritional needs of the elderly patients during initial hospital admission and nursing home settings. Furthermore, the authors recommend that there must be a system in place to enable nurses to assess and document all the nutritional risk factors then initiate the necessary intervention and care plans for the patient. The study implies that nurses need to be properly educated in order to deal with the issue of undernourishment in elderly patients.
