The one character that impressed is Annie, she is a girl that kept herself up even in the hardest time. As proof the author writes, “She is growing up wild,” Papa said. Always running, Climbing like a boy. No wonder she is sick all the time.”(3) As you can see, she was able to be strong and brave when everyone was offending her. There are people who offend her because she is a Jew that fled from Germany, but even then she ignores whatever people say. Secondly, “Well, since you're so tough,” Nancy Rae, “how about racing me across the lake tomorrow?” “Fine by me,” I said with a careless shrug, as if I was used to swimming across the lake any day of the year.
