Andrew Wiggin As A Hero In Ender's Game

Joseph Cambell’s hero's journey, was based on his idea of a monomyth. Which sparked the idea of a young boy starting a journey at a very young age, by the well known Orson Scott Card. Orson Scott Card was inspired by this in order to create the award winning novel, Ender’s Game. This novel is about a boy named Ender and how he began his hero’s journey at the age of six to later on in his training to be tricked into doing something so immense, which he did not anticipate would have happened so soon.Andrew “Ender” Wiggin is indeed a hero because he Crossed the First Threshold, dealt with The Belly of the Whale, experienced The Ultimate Boom, and in the end, he finally had the Freedom to Live his normal life.

Or in other words, he meets “The Ultimate Boom” step in a hero's journey.“Ender was still first in his standings, since he had frozen three, disabled two, and damaged 7”(Cards page 106). As not as ultimate it may seem, this quote supports Ender crossing The Ultimate Boom seeing that this was a huge accomplishment for his Dragon Army he has been commanding. It is not the biggest accomplishment in the entire book, but it is certainly one of the bigger ones. You have to have the epic things before the big finale. Which is what the ultimate boom was in this case. Having accomplished this in one practice battle show how much they have grown. The Dragon Army was undefeatable. Showing that they were ready to move on to the big leagues. Andrew “Ender” Wiggin now has a reason to go back to the ways things were...or so he …show more content…
“ ‘...The child-god, the miracle worker, with life and death in his hands’ ”(Card page 307). According to the quote, Ender did it. He defeated the buggers. Ender was tricked by Graff and Mazer. He thought that it was his last practice battle at command school before the real deal. Little did he know, he kicked bugger butt. He did what nobody has been able to attempt since the last time humankind went up against them. This quote also shows us that Ender had a lot of pressure on him. He had to protect the lives down on earth and take the buggers live to end the battle. Every higher ranked officer sees him has a hero and a miracle worker, which e he is, but this happened for the wrong reasons. Ender and his team could have taken them when the time was right rather than being tricked to actually strike first and earlier than planned. It was the right thing, but it was just done for the wrong reasons. Andrew made the decision to run to the place that was in the mind game, to then find the queen bugger who is dying. He makes the courageous decision, to help re-colonize the bugger simply because he realized that they actually were no threat to humankind after all. Being hero is no easy task, it is long, treacherous, and you must be in it for the long haul.
Ender was indeed, a hero who followed a path to fulfill his true destiny and take down the bugger fleet to then, help the last bugger alive...the queen. With

After Ender wiped out the entire bugger race he was very upset at what he just did because he was feeling guilty that he had no authority to kill the peaceful buggers, this also ties in with Enders emotional changes through the novel. But anyways since he felt guilty he went searching in a cave where it was told that the queen bugger lived as he entered the cave he saw one last bugger which survived the attack and Ender being the person who can communicate to the buggers spoke to it and Ender promised that bugger that he would take the little white cocoon and colonize the bugger race on a far away world without anyone knowing. But at the same time Peter was terrorizing the world back on earth and the most important person in the world to Ender was his sister Valentine so…
