Andrei Chikatilo is one of the greatest serial killers ever to live in communist Russia. He was born in 1936 to a family that resided in Yabluchne, Ukrainian. In 1978 Chikatilo coaxed a young girl in an abandoned shed; whilst, attempting to rape her. She struggled and in order to control her Chikatilo slashed her with a knife while ejaculating; ultimately, leading to her death and his first victim. Lucky for Chikatilo's his wife supplied him with a strong alibi and he laid low for three years. War is frequently referred to as a time of exceptional stress, at such a young age Chikatilo was witness to extreme violence. Hydrocephalus is the latin name for, water and brain, in simplistic terms, it is water on the brain, which can lead to severe damage. It was believed Andrei Chikatilo was born with Hydrocephalus; although, no health evaluations could confirm. This type of mental complication can cause urinary tract problems, bed-wetting through adolescents, and difficulty maintaining an erection. Chikatilo suffered from those implications creating a solid foundation for hydrocephalus. These biological factors contributed immensely to the mental and physical nature of Chikatilo. As punishment for wetting the bed Chikatilo’s mother would brutally beat and humiliate him. Freud presented the concept of children going through stages of life, in order to fulfill his or hers desires. Specifically, focusing on the latency and genital stages: Chikatilo was unable to gain pleasure through sexual acts, his pleasure came from a secondary process associated with violence. When Chikatilo was fifteen he assaulted a young girl; whilst, trying to overpower her, he ejaculated. After the incident he suffered ridicule from his peers: this was the first true connection associating sexual pleasure with violence. The last stage in Freud's theory of Psychosexual Development takes place between puberty and adulthood. This is when the child will resolve any uncertainty throughout the previous stages. By analyzing the correlations between Andrei Chikatilo’s murder timeline and Sigmund
