Andes Mountain Range Imagine standing 22,841 feet into the air, and gazing upon the amazing view of an ancient civilization. Or maybe even a lush jungle or rocky mountain side! Yes, the Andes Mountain Range is a sight for sore eyes, and even spreads about 4500 miles long, and is about 500 miles wide. The mountain range is even more significant than this, because it is one of the world’s most famous convergent boundary around. A convergent boundary happens when two tectonic plates smash against each other. There are three types of convergent boundaries, which consist of continental-continental, oceanic-oceanic, and continental-oceanic. The Andes Mountain Range is a continental-oceanic boundary.
