Ancient Greece influenced the modern world in many ways. Ancient Greece had some of the best minds ever. A lot of the scientific information we know today came from ancient Greece like our solar system revolves around the Sun, and the Earth is round. There also was a great deal of philosophers from ancient Greece that continue to influence the world thousands of years after their death.
Archimedes
One example of an ancient Greek scientist that has discovered a lot of what we know about physics is Archimedes. Archimedes was a mathematician, physicist, and an inventor. He is known for inventing the Archimedean screw, the lever, the catapult, and crane. The Archimedean screw was used to irrigate water. It was a tube with a screw in it and when you turned the screw water would rise up the tube. Archimedes also is known for inventing the lever. I enjoyed writing about people like Archimedes, Socrates, and Plato. I learned that some of the smartest people came from ancient Greece yet they aren’t recognized nearly as much as Albert Einstein. I think it’s amazing how scientist can learn so much from ancient Greece. I noticed how many of the famous people that I found were philosophers. I liked using online sources better than books because it was easier to find information. It’s much easier to search what information I need on Google than flipping through countless pages in a book. It was also more convenient to cite websites rather than writing out the publisher, the author's full name, and city of publication. I think we should be given more time to finish the project. I found myself typing for lots of time every night since the project was assigned and still barely finished in time. It was difficult to manage the whole project as well as math, reading, and science
