It essentially started the motion of the rearrangement of the kosmos into the way it is today. The way we see the galaxy right now, was because of nous all those years back. It acted as an energy of sorts that helped create the kosmos and is still very much present in modern times today.
Therefore, I absolutely agree with what Anaxagoras said about nous and how it’s present in nature. Nous is present in all stages of life, and is consistently around us and with us. Anaxagoras used his understanding of the world and the universe to give power and meaning to nous.
Another philosopher who respected and understood Anaxagoras’s views, was Aristotle. When Aristotle said that, “When someone said that nous is present – in nature, just as animals – as the cause of the kosmos and of all its order, he appeared as a sober man among the random chatterers who preceded him.” (Curd 107), I believe he was talking about Anaxagoras. It’s to my understanding that the other philosophers who came before Anaxagoras all had similar point of views on the matter of the kosmos. Anaxagoras, on the other hand, who was not only a philosopher but also a cosmologist, had radically different views on the kosmos and provided a breath of fresh air if you will.
