Stirling and Mr. Ursenbach’s class!

Science

We have been working on Recycling/Composting/Refundable presentations for quite some time, and are, presenting them to other classes to tell them what the should and should not put in the new bins at the school, and also why. There are 3 groups in total and there are around 4 semigroups in each big group! Also, we will be making trees out of paper that will make an arch with Natalie!

Social

We have been researching political parties so that we can participate in the student vote, and also we have been writing about a specific party we are told to write about. Another thing we did, is we got a piece of paper with our table group, and we decided what to do and how to divide the people if we were stranded on a deserted island. Ms. Black has also been reading Jakeman to us, a story of a boy whose mother is in jail, but is innocent.

Wednesday Wanders

For our first Wednesday Wanders (and our last so far) we went to Riley Park. We played camouflage and talked about trees (there is such thing as a coniduous tree)! We talked about a tree with blankets on it that was demolished. It used to provide shelter for homeless people. Lastly, we walked in a big garden, with nice

I am interested in going to Badger Girls State because this would be an amazing once in a lifetime opportunity and a privilege for me. My ancestors have always been involved in politics, from signing the Mayflower Compact, being written about in George Washington’s letters, fighting for women’s suffrage, and even now, voting, and voicing their opinions in the elections. I not only grew up learning about politics, but want to pursue a career as a political science teacher. I don’t believe my generation fully understands politics and how important it is for them to vote and get involved in politics. I want to change this in my own classroom.…

I attend a small high school,Coosa High School, which is in Rome, Georgia. I love my school, but I also love the community that surrounds my school. Over the past three years I have been at Coosa High School, an issue came to my realization. Coosa High School is a Title 1 school, meaning that Coosa has a high percentage of children from low-income families, because of that my school is provided with financial assistance to ensure all students reach their goals. Due to the fact that Coosa is a Title 1 high school, the amount of students that receive free and reduced lunch is rather high.…

It was a windy October afternoon when my friend Andrew and I decided to hike a Creasent Trail. Even though the day was a little chilly, Andrew and I still managed to walk the trails. We hiked for about one hour and we were both trailing very far behind each other because we were both so tired. The trails were full of very colorful leaves and we knew that fall was coming. Both of us wore a lot of clothes to keep warm.…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. Despite various minor challenges this semester I believe that I have put in the hard work that it takes and I have achieved the course goals and will complete this class feeling fulfilled and accomplished.…

The purpose of a mission trip is not to save everyone or solve hunger. Many people who take mission trip have this mentality, and I 'm not going to lie, my first mission trip this is what I expected. I believed that I was going to be the one person to go down and “change” the people. This idea is far from reality, but I realize that you can make a difference in some people’s lives. I have taken a few mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where I have built relationships with the people down there.…

For some students, choosing to attend college after high school is an easy decision. Some are expected by their families to continue into higher education post high school graduation. I know a few people that are so motivated to attend college that they already know for sure what they are going to major in before they were even freshmen in high school. For me, I was not falling into that category. College was something I did not consider throughout my time in high school.…

338). In addition to this, I have learned that writing incorporates a composed text for the use of communicative information. When writing in the classroom, it is foundational to understand that children benefit from having a sense of control over their piece, such as choosing their own topic, purpose (genre) and audience (Fellowes & Oakley 2016). This relates to the purpose of each aspect that features in this portfolio: choosing the topic in which we desire, the audience that best suits and the purpose in which the text will portray; whilst incorporating our knowledge and understanding of multiliteracies.…

Overall, I was extremely happy with the effort my group put into this project. In terms of attending the group meetings, everyone was present and participated in the discussion. The first meeting took place on a Sunday afternoon at Baruch and the second meeting took place on a weeknight in the form of a Google Hangout. The times and places of these meetings alone displayed every group members’ commitment to the project, effort to accommodate for scheduling conflicts, and effort to ensure they are contributing their fair share to the group regardless the time or day of the week. At these meetings, we discussed ways to engage the crowd and critiqued each other’s slides and presentations.…

English 2010 has been a learning experience for me, I've been able to learn a lot about english that I did not know or work on before. With the first essay that we worked on I did a memoir I really enjoyed working on this paper, In class we were able to get freedom to add pictures to are pictures make it a little bit more creative I certainly was not used to this; I’ve been told my whole schooling experience that you have the intro and the conclusion and three body paragraphs. The memoir I was able to write to what I felt like I needed it to be, add pictures so it could appeal more to the eye when reading and also made it easier.…
