Analyzing Erik's Wild Life

Decent Essays
This book Wild Life was very good. Erik’s parents get deployed into Iraq, Erik is sent to his grandparents' in North Dakota. Erik does not like it at his grandparents' house so he runs away two days after he gets there. There are two reasons why I really liked my book. First, there was a lot of adventure. He gets sent to his grandparent's house in North Dakota. It was a long flight from his home in New York to North Dakota. Also a long Drive from the airport to his grandparents house. Also, he runs away from their house with a dog he found and named Quill. Lastly, he has to survive. He must hunt to get food for himself, and Quill. I would recommend this book to a friend for two reasons. First there is a lot of adventure. He does

In his work A New Species of Trouble: The Human Experience of Modern Disasters, author Kai Erikson describes how a sense of community can arise out of a shared trauma "There is a spiritual kinship there, a sense of identity” (Erikson 231). There are however a “corrosive” effect on the life of everyone in the community and secondhand knowledge of an event will allow the survivor to escape the negative consequences. The victim is left only with a sense of belonging to a triumphant community. This line of thought is more in line with Roman tradition than with the outline provided in Genesis.…

Tyler Palka History 100D 1491 Book Review Charles Mann is a very intelligent journalist who wrote the book 1491 New Revelations of the Americas before Columbus, he is simply just trying to get things right when it comes to history and more specifically pre Columbian America. Charles Mann’s thesis is to educate others on Native Americans because he feels everyone before him was wrong or didn’t do a well enough job finding out the truth. Charles is a very persuasive journalist I think because of all the resources he used and the way he presented it in the book. Throughout the book Mann essentially tries to look into or paint a portrait of what human life was like in the Americas before the arrival of Columbus and the European history in some…

Phase one: Before you read Before i actually get in to my reflection about the book i would like to tell you that the book i first told you is not the book i am doing right now. There were many reason i wasn't able to do that one, first of all i couldn't find the book anywhere i ask all the libraries and they all said that book is checked out in their systems, second reason was that the book was extremely long and i wouldn't be able to finish it, third reason was that the book is extremely boring i looked up a book summary online for it and i got so bored i almost fell asleep reading the summary. So now the book i have is The Bean Tree, now don't get me wrong i'm not saying that this book is NOT boring but its better than my first book. And last thing, i forgot to ask you if this book is okay to read, but i asked the libraries if either the setting is in Tucson or Arizona or the author live in Arizona or Tucson and they said yes sorry ahead of time.…

Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits written David Wong takes place in two contrasting areas. To begin with, the novel starts out in the countryside of Colorado and later transfers to a fictional city named Tabula Rasa. Tabula Rasa is a city much like Las Vegas only with fewer restrictions. Additionally, the story takes place thirty-to-forty years from now, in a future that resembles the present with just some quirks that you would need to adjust to if you were to live there. You can liken the future’s difference from the nineteen-eighties to the present.…

The novel Shatter Me written by Tahereh Mafi is foremost one of the best books that I have ever read in my existence. This amazing novel was really unpredictable as everything happened like a rollercoaster ride. However, it did have some drops throughout the book that I did not find amusing. The three main things that I personally adored about this novel was the idea, characters, and writing style. I really liked the idea of this novel as it was really eventful.…

There are times when life’s situations make us do drastic choices, to help us escape, find ourselves or even to heal the soul within. In the novels “Into the Wild,” and “Wild” both of the characters take an unimaginable trip out into the wilderness to escape everyone and everything that at one point in their life’s was important to them. Both “Into the Wild” and “Wild” are distinctly different from each other, despite wilderness being both of the stories it’s symbol. The distinctions between Chris and Cheryl journeys were their motives, geographic locations, the use of money and food, and being alive at the end of their journey.…

I think the book, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid Double down”, written by Jeff Kinney, was an awesome book. The book is about a young kid, like me, who is just learning his common sense and his moral ethics. The book was very entertaining to read as it gives the perspective of a young boy, Greg Heffley, of his not-so-ordinary life. People may think he’s ordinary, but when you get into his everyday life, it gets weird. He has an older brother, which I can relate to, and he’s always trying to get out of work, no matter what.…
