I agree with the above suggestions regarding ways to reduce police brutality among American citizens, especially minorities. By being a minority and learning the unjust of treatment of other non-whites, it leads to a feeling of mistrust toward law enforcement. To feel that you have a higher chance of being abused by authority due to the simple fact that you are of a different race employs a sense of false security. I truly feel about justice system needs to be truly reorganized and modified to adequately function for citizens and officers. Rights should be clearly stated and defined. Policies should be firmly enforced and practiced by potential law enforcement. The use of less lethal weapons should be employed as an officer’s initial defense when needed. Guns should only be drawn when conditions regarding the use of deadly force are present. The use of body cameras should continue, but I believe punishments should be increased against officers when filmed executing methods that go against the law and department policy. By allowing officers to abuse their authority without punishment although there is visual evidence transforms the feeling of security into fear.
