The First Crusade, began in 1095 after pope Urban II had been asked to help in supplying Emperor Alexius Comnenus with mercenaries to fight for him in order to regain Jerusalem. The response given may have been much larger than what was expected yet it was far from declined. Urban saw this opportunity to change the religion in the east and instead bring it into the west’s Christianity. And as the Christian following was pretty much everyone at the time, Alexius was given an army of people willing to go into battle for their lord.

Urban had made quite the influential speech in order to rally the Christians into taking back their Holy Land. “On this account I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ's heralds to publish this everywhere and
