This has been eradicated by Spaniards by saying that it is into witchcraft. This also promotes gender equality because babaylan can be either male or female. It was instilled in our heads that we should approach babaylan for enchantments and spiritual healing which contradicts the Christianity because belief of babaylan is paganism. Another is the ability of both gender to be separated even though they are married. For instances that the wife is not satisfied with her husband they can be divorced. It gives me a sense of pride that we were not totally dependent to Spaniards. At first I thought we knew nothing of business and language. The book opened my eyes to the fact that Spaniards just actually smeared our culture and infected our society. For me Philippine prehistory is something to be proud of. How artistic our ancestors were and how social organization work those times. We were not complete idiots when they came here and how intelligent we were. As I read the book, retaining the equality of both genders would be good. Equality for both genders would eradicate the stereotypes between females and the said “not capable” while respecting their rights to do things. It will also be good to retain the blood pact for treaties. This would test the seriousness of both parties to agreements and promises. Then this would erase the thought of promises are meant to be
