The site states in it’s Community Guidelines that it is deeply committed to protecting the freedom of speech of its many users. However, they draw lines at deeply important categories of content and behavior that may “jeopardize our users, threaten our infrastructure, and damage our community” (“Community Guidelines”). Its dedication to protect its users is found within the lengths they go to do so, Tumblr has made a few changes to keep their community as safe and clean as possible. They rushed to enforce the policy of accounts that were made to repeatedly harass or abuse certain members or groups within the Tumblr community will be suspended (Mackey). Tumblr has also seen a majority of young users treat the website as a dairy-like output, and is where a good majority of these people are seeing very harmful and triggering content, like photos romanticising self harm, suicide, and eating disorders (Perez).
