Thomas Jefferson: Freeing Slaves
Introduction
"Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal. Nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude." These words come from the mouth of Thomas Jefferson. This quote sums up Jefferson 's life because it reflects upon his achievements and his goals.
Biographical Information As a child Jefferson grew up in a family that owned slaves. In Jefferson 's time period it was okay for you to own slaves, it wasn 't set as a bad thing until Jefferson came along and changed everyone 's mind. (Scherr) He embraced a symbolic relationship between church and state. Even though he was very religious and believed that there was someone looking out for him and his family. He did not believe in the afterlife. Jefferson lived in a time where all he knew was slavery. He grew up with a father that owned slaves and ended up marrying someone who owned a lot of slaves. But what 's surprising about Jefferson is after the beliefs he grew up with he was able to look at it from a different angle and change the world.
Revolutionary Methods Although Jefferson 's methods might not have mad sense to others they made sense to him. He believed that his selves were safer under his wardship than they would have been on their own. He had taken his belief to the government. His beliefs are what have made how we live and how we see things today. They believe he might have freed his slaves by moving them to a free state or to the North-West territory.

Although his ideas for our states seemed far out there Thomas was able to fulfill his dreams of making the states free. Thomas Jefferson was able to accomplish everything he tried to do.
