Why do we preach peace, yet practice war? Society assumes that the instigators of the many radicalised attacks to our nations are terrorists; however, in actuality it’s the ruling class that put a target on our backs. The artist Banksy, powerfully depicts the statement that preaching peace, when the ruling class profit from war, ultimately makes you a target. He effectively criticises government authorities through the simple cartoon consisting of an armoured dove being aimed at by a red target. Through analysis and interpretation of this piece of visual media, it becomes evident that satirical devices such as symbolism and visual devices such as tone and colour, have been utilised in order to persuade the audience. After World War Two, a group of Jewish extremists formed together and declared that the holy land of Palestine was now to be called Israel. Consequently, a concrete fence was built in order to separate the Israelites and Palestinians however this only caused more conflict.
