In the essay, “Destroyed,” Peter F. Martin is against steroids. Peter F. Martin says that the players are victims of dangerous drugs. “Performance-enhancing drugs, those nasty chemicals that athletes are guzzling down, rubbing in, and shooting up, are here to stay” (Martin 580). Athletes are using steroids to help them win their games. Athletes that use steroids are cheating; it is a way of cheating to reach their goals. “Sports, remember, is world of purity, of natural cleanliness” (Martin 581). Athletes are using steroids as an easy way out but they are terrible for their body. Steroids are unhealthy for athletes. “Sport, after all, isn’t just entertainment” (Martin 581).
