Ballet is an artistic dance form which was introduced in the 1500, It includes lots of technical movements and slow paced music. A ballet routine is made up of soft flowing movements from the arms and legs and can be performed with what is called pointe shoes which is made up of layer of materials. Pointe shoes allow ballerinas to dance on the tips of their toes which make their movements look slower and softer. Ballet is an artistic form of dance performed to music. A type of ballet is classical ballet, which originated in the Renaissance, Italy. It established in the 19th century and was characterised by light graceful movements. When the ballet was created, dancers wore masks and long dresses with numbers of layers. At this time the dance steps were made up of small hope,

The shoes were small heels, which were hardly ever seen as the long dresses would always cover the feet and ankles. Moving into the 19th century, ballerinas wore shorter dresses which came to the calf muscles to show more footwork. Through the 20th century, they then started wearing short skirts which were called tutu’s. Tutu’s were worn to do more larger and bigger jumps for more expression and to impress people. From here onwards, ballerinas started wearing two piece outfits with point shoes and a more flowy skirt. In this time now, ballerinas now ear leotards to show more body movement and to make it easier to do big leaps and turns. Ballet is an artistic form of dance as most people perform ballet on stage or in front of many people. Ballet is also very technical and would be hard for people to pick it up. Today Ballet is now used a lot in competitions or recreation. Ballet is usually worn with a leotard so people can see their body position and can move around.
