Ideally justice can be provided if the judge and the judiciary system are objectively detached from their belief. But the same detachment can become the face of dehumanized system.
This drama basically shows the women stance in the society. Here Miss Benare was displayed as the victim of the power of patriarchal society which is faced by women in their day to day lives. It’s a replica of the problems that are faced by women, and its not necessary to sexually abuse women the society does it with its rules and regulations. The only she wants is to gain respect in the society. This play was written in 1967 where our country was tasting freedom after 200 years of slavery. Women started getting educated they started questioning about their rights in the society which was obviously not appreciated by the patriarchal society. Due to this the society started threatening the female individuality. The society tried to suppress women specially young women like Miss Benare. Miss Benare broke the law of society and she went completely against societal norms. The society didn’t accept for the person she is. Generally the society dictates how to live our life which wasn’t accepted by Miss Benare. And especially in this play it seems that people don’t stick their words. Mr Kashikar tries to act like a judge and suppresses Benare with his judgments. He questions her capability of being a mother. He also says that Beanre being a school teacher who has such low moral value will spoil the future generation of the country by teaching wrong ethics in the school. And Benare is kind if a woman who is not afraid of the society. She believes in not suppressing the emotional intimacy that anyone has for another person. She also quotes an incident from her past about her affair with her mother’s brother who left her in the middle of nowhere. This play also indicates that how the society blames
