Lisa Macuja Elizalde: ‘Remembered for a long, long time’

Lisa Teresita Pacheco Macuja-Elizalde was born on October 3rd, 1964. She became the first Filipina Prima Ballerina, and the first foreign soloist to join the Kirov Ballet company. In a speech given 30 years later on March 30th, 2015, she stands on a podium in front the class of 2015 Ateneo de Manila University and made history. There was a turning point in Elizalde life that made her the person she is today. Elizalde speech is effective and inspirational because with family of high expectations, she wanted to go on her own path and make her dreams of becoming a ballerina come true. Think of the future that you always wanted for yourself. It could be in when you were a little kid, or more relevant- high school. Elizalde wants us to reached 20 years later and picture ourselves committing everything that you are passionate about. I decided and committed to opening or running a dance studio business.
Secondly,”No pain, no gain” (Elizalde para 20). Basically saying, you fall down, get right back up and do it again. This can apply to a dancers life because you literally go through blood, sweat, and tears. I been in this positions a billion of times, and I always gain something from my mistake. One time that I remembered would be when I was learning how to turn in jazz for the first time and I attempted to do a triple turn, I skid all over the floor and got bruises especially on my knees.
Next, ”Whatever your goal, get good at it! Whatever it is you are passionate about, you need to keep at it and practice. Repeat. Practice. Repeat” (Elizalde para 21). Practice makes perfect. Elizalde explains in her experience that ballet connects the life of what is really important. I am full 100% in an agreement. Everything will pay off when it is put to action by you. Even though Elizalde uses a dancer 's perspective, take it as you were working for minimum wage at first, but then as the years of working for the same company go by, there could be benefits that fit you as a growing person that wants a living. Out of the four years I been involved with the studio I currently dance for, I was offered a teaching position as a choreographer.
