Poverty is living in constant filth, and stench. Poverty is having only onions, rice, and beans to eat as they are cheap. Poverty is always being tired, hungry, and sick. Poverty is constantly being covered in dirt, with cuts and scrapes all over one’s hands. Poverty is no heat or medicine. Living a life of constant poverty is also living a life with a bleak future with little to no hope of a better life. Poverty is watching one’s kids be made fun of because they do not have an education. Poverty is watching one’s kids knowing that they will most likely end up living a life of theft. Poverty crushes pride, and chips away honor until both are completely gone. Poverty is hell.
Response
This is an extremely deep article. It shows the reader how it feels to live in poverty. This article was published in 1971 and possibly written long before which gives it little relevance currently as it shows what poverty was like as far back as possibly one hundred years ago. Modern poverty is much different. There are copious charities and organizations that help the poor and homeless and give much-needed help to the poor so that they do not need to live in what this article describes. Although there are the organizations that help the poor and homeless, poverty is not fun. Nobody wants to be homeless or live in poverty. In conclusion, this article is completely outdated and does not hold significant relevance
