36-41 Summary:
Miss Strangeworth entered into her house and put some roses in the room. She used colorful and childish pens and letter papers to write to the individuals in this unknown town. After thinking for a while, she decided to write letters to Ms. Harper who she just met in the morning, and was in attempt to write to the residents who looked distraught for the purpose of cleaning up the town. Generally, she wrote several horrific letters for her own benefits and she wanted to make the town away from the evil. Important quotations:
1. “Miss Strangeworth used a pad of various-colored paper, layered in pink and green and blue and yellow; everyone in town bought it and used it for odd, informal notes and shopping lists….” (P.4 Par.36)
- This quotation is extremely ironic because colorful papers represent happiness and good things. However, Miss Strangeworth used these childish papers to write evil letters which were exceedingly harmful. What’s more, these words also shows that Miss Strangeworth was very careful to prevent others to recognize who the writer was. It is ironic as well since this paper were sent to people for the purpose of protecting the town. It was good in some aspects because this action might make the rate of crimes in this town becomes smaller. On the other hand, this decision also leaded the life of the relatives to become complex and hard. It showed that Miss Strangeworth was extremely selfish and she only thought about her own benefits. This section also shows that Miss Strangeworth also cared about others’ thoughts to her because she posted the letters at night and she didn’t want anyone to know she was the
