In September of 2017, an article by Conor Friedersdorf, titled “Kneeling for Life and Liberty Is Patriotic,” first appeared in The Atlantic. He criticizes about what is the meaning to be an American patriot. He claims to be American patriot not by standing or kneeling for the American flag. Therefore, his main argument all people are equal and they have rights like Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness and all these rights are unalienable Rights. He supports this argument in three ways. In the article, it said, “A person can salute the American flag with tears of affection in his eyes; if he deprives others of life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness, he is still a bad American.” In my point of view, I agree with this, because it is showing what the flag means to other people, in different ways. The part about that the anthem and the flag symbols interpreted differently by people in anytime this meaning for this symbol can change. The meaning of that is the symbol of the anthem, and the flag can change. For example, “Their meaning can change for the same people in different moments as for the African American who sang the anthem” everyone must know our flag code by heart The U.S. Flag Code says the American flag “represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing.” Honestly, we live in our country, and we see the flag of our country as an important and important center in every corner of the country, where we look with pride and pride.
