Howie Close Friendship

One important reason that Howie and Laura will remain close friends for many years is that Howie and Laura went through a traumatic experience that has bonded them together. In the text it says, ¨He was shaking with cold, and he wondered if they were going to die.¨ What he author is saying here is Howie was very cold and he was even wondering if they were going to die. Howie and Laura were left naked stranded on the island and they had to swim to the beach shore. This event must have left Howie and Laura traumatized. Since, Howie and Laura went through this disturbing experience together they are now bonded together and this shocking occurrence has built up great trust between Howie and Laura. In the text it states “He knew that there would be arguments and long distance phone calls, and parents and camp counselors and police men talking over their heads about things they didn't understand. He would want to to crawl in a hole, and she would cry. It didn't matter they would think of something.” This quote is from the end of the book, Howie and Laura had a chance to leave each other but they decided to stay together. Howie was thinking of many obstacles that could come between them, including police officers, parents and counselors but, Howie knew that they would figure it out and maintain a long distance relationship. Howie and Laura decided that there friendship was worth fighting for and they decided that nothing would come between them. The fact that they are willing to fight for a long distance relationship shows that they will remain close friends for many years. Of course, it is possible to disagree with the view that Howie and Laura had a chance to leave each other but decided to stay together and instead say Howie and Laura did not have a chance to leave each other because Howie depended on Laura. But the argument that Howie and Laura had a chance to leave each other but decided to stay together is still true because in my evidence Howie was coming up with many obstacles that could come between him and Laura like the police or their parents but in the end they decided to stay together. Laura also wanted to stay with Howie because she also liked the idea of running away in the woods with Howie. Both Howie and Laura decided to overcome every obstacle because they decided that they wanted to stay together, it was not just Howie that wanted to stay with Laura. So, Howie was not dependant on
