An audience consisting of police officers, loved ones of police officers, sisters, brothers, uncles, husbands and wives that have ever encountered a police officer, whether on good or bad terms. My idea audience needs to be informed that “winter is coming” and why lines have been drawn and sides have been taken as far as the police and public are concerned. I feel that it’s important for my audience to understand that one day, one of their loved ones whether a police officer or friend, could very well be a headline in the news. In the news, not because they won the lottery, but because the officer that they knew allegedly killed an unarmed victim. Or better yet, that friend that they once knew is now that alleged unarmed victim. My target audience seeks the truth and justice for both that officer and the victim. I, myself have had my share of unjustified run in’s with not so pleasant police officers in my past to put it politely. I honestly believe with every inch of me, that had those officers been wearing body-worn police cameras in at least one of my encounters with the police, that I could very well have settled a law suit for police brutality, yet all I had was my word vs. their word. I have a somewhat bias opinion about body-worn police cameras as you probably can tell by now. In my humble opinion, implementing body-worn cameras to police departments could only help protect both the police and the public. No more he said-she said, because it’s all caught on camera. Someone famous once said “dead men don’t talk.” I believe that body cameras provide the loudest voice and are most important in instances where there is a live voice vs. a dead voice. Body worn cameras intended uses do not solely capture the voices of the decease but also show the good of human kind by possibly capturing officers letting a jaywalker go with a warning, playing catch with the local kids
