He headed out into the square and started to speak to the large crowd that had gathered. When he started teaching his point of view the crowd became vicious. They shouted in outrage and some even threw nearby rocks at him. John had never heard so many mean things said about him. Parents shielded their children from him in horror. John was scared, but regained his confidence and spoke out to the crowd a second time. He told them that this lesson would cause them a great deal of rage, but it would be an important one.
The crowd had grown silent to hear what John had to say. He warned them a second time by saying,”I do not know how to teach philosophy without becoming a disturber of the peace.” The crowd waited for him to continue. He proceeded to teach his ideas, but everyone left. Determined, John would try again tomorrow, for it was getting to be late.
