Lesson 1:
We spent the first lesson learning the melody to the song “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” as it is song we, as an ensemble, decided to learn. As this song is very fast and upbeat we spent a fair bit of time trying to get the right speed and the right lyrics before we began to add in harmonies. I feel like as an ensemble we need to work on listening to the conductor and not talking when we are supposed to be singing. I feel as if I contributed very well and committed myself to learning the song.
Lesson 2:
In this lesson, we split up into altos, soprano one’s and soprano two’s, I am usually in altos but decided to challenge myself by singing soprano two’s, which is the harmony in the middle. We focused a lot on the …show more content…
We went over the harmony we learnt last week and went over new harmonies. We skimmed over the harmonies so we could finish the song. Last lesson we went through the harmony slower but this lesson we did it at normal pace in order to finish the song. The talking throughout the ensemble improved but was not stopped, there were still sometimes where people would talk, but it was not as much as last lesson. The ensemble learnt the simple melody to the song for around half the lesson, the ensemble was then split into two groups the “slaves” and the “American’s”, both groups had to come up with a version of the song that could include harmonies, the American’s had the privilege of using instrument whereas the slaves could not because in their time no instruments were available for them to use. Once we got into the groups we worked on the first line and some harmonies for it. In my group is Matilda, Kate, Rachel, Sophie L, Lara and myself. Rachel was not here at this rehearsal but I feel it was a good start and that our group worked well
