An Essay On The Stamp Act Of 1765

The Stamp Act of 1765 was the first indigenous tax charged directly on American colonists by the British government. The Stamp Act, that appointed a tax on all paper documents in the colonies, came at a time when the British domain was deep in debt from the Seven Years’ War (1756-1763) and looking to its North American colonies as an acquirement source. The Stamp Act of 1765 was very grim towards colonist’s families. The Act put many families in debt and made them very barbaric. Many colonists had many questions and concerns about the new act the British government had passed. Many families didn’t know if they could pay their tax, which would mean being kicked out of their house, and their land being seized by the British government. All of the conflict is one of the reason the American Revolutionary War happened. A colonial family’s discussion about the new act would be cruel. Most families would rebel and hope the British laid off the Act. Men would do anything they could to save their families and if they died their son was the new man.
