Gerry talks about despite believing in democracy the people have been enslaved. The enslavement is by the many complicated corporate and governmental behemoths called the "New Slave Master" which control every activity in the people 's lives. The slave condition refers to the state of American people who are at the mercy of corporations. America is in a state of capitalism as depicted by Gerry in his book Give Me Liberty. The people no longer have control and voice in their jobs or to their employers. The need for freedom comes from within one 's self such as peaceful rebellion.

This is clearly evident in his book Give me liberty when the idea of corporations disturbs him. He does not like the aspect that the corporations are oppressing the people. The oppression brings out the issue of slavery, which is hurtful to a patriot. Through Gerry 's freedom motivation cultivates a culture of patriotism in the American citizens. Gerry Spence aims at informing the American society of the problem America is facing and the impacts the problems have in the society. Also, Gerry 's point in the book Give me liberty aims at showing the American society that they have the power and freedom to revolt against oppression from the corporations. The liberty will enable them to change the American future make it brighter.
In conclusion, Give me liberty by Gerry Spence provides an insight into the modern society. In the book, Gerry Spence shows all the existing injustices in our society and also proceeds on to teach people on ways to free themselves from these injustices. However, despite this fact, I don’t entirely agree with most of the ideas brought forward in the book. This is for the reason that most of the author’s ideas can be regard as too radical. Furthermore, the book seems to be advocating for a system, which is brilliantly disguised in communism, fascism and socialism
