Something you would never want to experience in your lifetime or wouldn’t want a loved one to get. They can't remember previous memories that happen a while ago or just remember things when they were small. When people are diagnosed they can get some treatments to help them,they give them techniques to help the loss of memories. They also have occupational therapies who help learn new information from what you don't recall or to use intact memories as a basis for taking in new information (mayo foundation 1998-2015). Also do memory training , technology assistance, or supplements all of these are treatments for people who have amnesia to help them in everyday to recover or replace the memories. For the tests and diagnosed the doctors ask a couple of questions ,look thru medical history ,family members who had it or just regular to get in contact, do a cognitive test and a physical exam. In the physical exam they check for many systems to see if they still function right or have changed drastically and to balance out your brain to see what damage has occurred
